The library hosted a special lecture on AI course development and AI agent teaching practice.

  To enhance the AI literacy of professional librarians and promote the deep integration of AI technology with intelligent library services, our library invited Dr. Liao Xunchen from the Teaching Development Center and Professor Gao Yulin from the School of Nursing to deliver special lectures on the morning of July 21. This lecture series also represents the library's proactive efforts to align with the university's AI education and teaching development and to explore innovative pathways for intelligent services.

  Dr. Liao Xunchen delivered a lecture titled "AI Course and Discipline-Specific Large Model Development at Southern Medical University," systematically introducing the university's overall plan and construction progress for AI-empowered education and teaching. He shared insights on the AI course system development, organizational support mechanisms, and future development plans, presenting the university's four-tier progressive AI course system of "general education - foundation - specialization - integration." To date, the university has built 311 AI-integrated courses covering 21 course clusters, gradually forming a construction mechanism jointly supported by the AI Teaching Advisory Committee, the Medical AI Teaching Alliance, and the Future Learning Center. Additionally, Dr. Liao introduced key work arrangements for the second half of the year, including tiered evaluation of AI courses, cultivation of benchmark courses, and the construction of the Future Learning Center.

  Professor Gao Yulin delivered a lecture titled "From Pain Points to Breakthroughs: Teaching Practice and Exploration of AI Agents," sharing innovative practices in applying AI agents to nursing education. She pointed out that in the era of artificial intelligence, teachers should not only serve as knowledge transmitters but also as guides and designers of students' learning processes, helping students develop the abilities to raise questions, solve problems, and engage in lifelong learning. Drawing on the practical needs of nursing teaching, Professor Gao introduced application cases such as the "study buddy" series of AI agents and the "hospice care communication training" AI agent, demonstrating the positive role of AI agents in promoting students' active learning, enhancing clinical communication training outcomes, and cultivating higher-order abilities. She emphasized that AI applications should be grounded in real teaching needs, and that teaching evaluation should pay greater attention to changes in students' thinking abilities and learning processes. After the presentations, professional librarians engaged in active and effective communication with the experts on specific details.

  This lecture series not only systematically outlined the university's overall plan for AI course development but also presented vivid practices from front-line teaching, providing valuable references for librarians to deepen their AI literacy and better serve teaching and research. In the future, the library will continue to leverage its resource and platform advantages, explore the construction of intelligent and open future learning spaces, and provide strong support for the university's efforts to accelerate its development into a world-class medical university.
